NHP Consulting is a Canadian consulting firm specializing in Health Canada submissions. Since the Marijuana for Medical Purposes Regulations (MMPR) were published in 2013, we have started offering our services to help companies achieve a producer licence with Health Canada to produce medical marijuana on a commercial scale.
NHP Consulting is looking for a passionate and experienced Master Grower to support our clients in the Greater Toronto Area. The main areas of expertise required are with regards to growing room / facility layout and expertise with different strains of medical cannabis.
We are looking for a candidate with 3 or more years of cannabis growing experience (preferably within the former MMAR system). Candidates must employ growing techniques, and document such techniques in writing (for procedural requirements) that produce high yields. Knowledge in different strains and potential therapeutic effects would be an asset. The ideal candidate should also have a strong expertise in mold and pest prevention without the use of synthetic/commercial pesticides.
The Master Grower will need to be comfortable working with and training our clients on good agricultural practices, some of whom have little growing experience. The Master Grower will be responsible for planning how space is designated/separated into grow rooms depending on the client’s facility size, as well as visiting potential site locations with the client. Ideally, the Master Grower candidate will have experience with both hydroponics and potted approaches. The Master Grower will have a thorough understanding of lighting requirements for growing cannabis, employing both natural light (in the case of greenhouses) and artificial lights (high intensity discharge, LED, fluorescents), or a combination of both. The Master Grower will ultimately be engaging with our clients to understand their competency and goals, and designing the growing approach/rooms based on such conversations. The Master Grower should be able to think in both small and large scales (e.g., a 1,000 vs. 200,000 square foot facility). Knowledge and networking in the equipment side is also an asset.
The ideal candidate should also have education and/or equivalent experience in a professional or commercial environment. Any certification or experience in pharmaceutical or quality assurance within a highly regulated environment would be considered an exceptional asset, though not required. The Master Grower must not have any criminal convictions or arrests involving drug-related offences, and before an offer for hire is offered a criminal record check with RCMP will be required.
The Master Grower will need to reside within the Greater Toronto Area (preferably within 45 minutes of downtown), and will be working from a home office. The Master Grower will need access to a vehicle to drive to locations within a 3-hour radius of Toronto. The Master Grower position will involve a high amount of travel within the GTA, as a hands-on approach and regular client visits is needed. Mileage is compensated by NHP Consulting. Health spending account also offered, depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
Please submit your CV and salary expectations. Start date as soon as possible, likely the end of April.
