We are a family oriented, progressive dairy farm located in Southern Oxford County. We are searching for a motivated and willing to learn Assistant Herds Person to assist us in managing a 150 cow dairy operation.
Job Duties to include:
Assisting in managing and maintaining day to day operations
Monitoring and maintaining robotic milking system
Assisting with overall herd health, including reproduction (heat detection and breeding), hoof trimming, and treatments when required
Maintaining accurate record keeping on the various computer programs
Communicate with owner regarding observation and analysis of herd health trends
participate in vet herd health visits and feed consultant meetings
Maintenance of stalls, including bedding
Feeding herd with tractor and TMR mixer
Regular cleaning and maintenance in order to ensure that all of the equipment is operating properly.
Operation of various farm machinery, particularly during planting and harvesting season
Training opportunities to expand knowledge and skills as a dairy herdsperson
Skills Required:
Strong, efficient work ethic and excellent communication skills
Ability to work independently, as well as work well in a team setting
Punctual
Honest
Experience with working with dairy animals
Experience Managing a Dairy operation is considered a strong asset but not required
Mechanical ability for small repairs.
Post-Secondary education in Animal Science or Agriculture an asset

Compensation:
Starting wage $18/hour, negotiable depending on experience
Two weeks of holidays each year to start
Every other weekend off (some flexibility required during busy season)
