Responsible for supporting the Sales, Manufacturing, and Engineering department in areas that specifically relate to their technical and industry expertise. The Technician tracks and reports on field failures, non conformance and warranty issues. The overall goal of the position is to reduce field failures through active quality control.
Duties:
Assist the Engineering Department with mechanical expertise (diesel engines)
Provide technical assistance to dealer/customer technicians over the phone
Function as technical expert on mechanical and electrical aspects of diesel engines and Sunova WorX products
Gain complete understanding of products sold
Devise and develop necessary Installation Manuals
Develop a training package for dealers/customers as needed
Create, maintain and further develop trouble shooting guides
Develop new kits for equipment not currently fitted on
During the development of the manual diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required. Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand or power tools
Maintain accurate files
Identify and track all field failures, create monthly reports, present to Management team
Manage RGA process, ensuring analysis of failed parts
Work closely with Engineering department to ensure any changes to equipment are accurately reflected in engineering documents
Where necessary go on site to ensure proper installation and performance of Sunova WorX products
Attend trade shows and dealer/customer events

Able to talk with customer by telephone, listening as customer describes a problem, interpreting, questioning, advising, describing(talking through) a procedure to repair/replace a part.
Mechanical ability and manual dexterity
Read electrical schematics to diagnose a problem
Able to use a PC, strong knowledge of MSWord, Excel, Email, Internet
Ability to work alone or as a member of a team with other tradespersons
An interest in keeping up with new technologies
Working Conditions:
Work weeks are 5 days, Monday to Friday, 8.5 hours per day, starting at 8am in the morning.
Additional hours may be required during travel away from the office in pursuit of sales (customer / dealer visits, tradeshows, etc)
May work longer hours during busy season
Capability of working inside a shop for repair/installation work
Working in an office setting, using computers and phones.
Comfortable with detailed work
Able to lift equipment weighing 35 lbs
Employment Requirements:
3 – 5 of technical experience
Completion of secondary school is required
Exceptional, verbal and written communication skills – English Language
A clean Driver’s Abstract is required
Able to travel within Canada and the U.S.
Own tools and safety boots.
Willing to work a flexible schedule with occasional overnight travel and weekend and/or evening work
Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public
Computer experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
