Farmer
Fort William Historical Park (FWHP) seeks an experienced Farmer to provide hands-on farming and gardening.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working individual who has a passion for history and loves to spend time outdoors. You will have an opportunity to be part of a living history program portraying early 19th century farm activities.
PLEASE NOTE: This position may require you to work during non-business hours, and on holidays and weekends.
What can I expect to do in this role?
As a Farmer, you will:
• Care for large and small farm animals (e.g., draught horses, cattle, pigs, sheep and chickens), and inspect animals for injury and illness;
• Perform gardening functions (e.g., prepare soil, plant seeds, apply fertilizer, select vegetables);
• Drive a two-horse team of draught horses to perform farm activities;
• Support the living history program delivery and participate in historical dramatizations;
• Provide technical direction and training to students;
• Operate farm equipment, machinery and power tools;
• Prepare weekly reports and monitor inventory records.
