PURPOSE & REPORTING STRUCTURE:
The Junior Farmers’ Association of Ontario (JFAO) is looking to hire a qualified individual to report to the Past President and work closely with the JFAO Executive Committee, along with other JFAO committees. The General Manager position will assist in various aspects of the organization.

• Fundraising – Ability to connect with corporate partners, and maintain relationships
• Communication (written and verbal) – Ability to listen well, and communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
• Microsoft Office & Adobe – Fully understand full suite of Microsoft Office and Adobe products
• Vehicle and License – Must be able to commute to and from the JFAO head office located in Guelph, Ontario and other -JFAO related events
• Completion of related post-secondary education
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform day-to-day business tasks outlined by the JFAO executive. For example: insurance requests, emails, telephone calls, and inquires.
- Assist with the Century Farm Sign program – processing applications, mailing signs, organizing deliveries.
- Assist with JFAO board of directors and executive meetings (minute taking).
- Assist with preparation of marketing, sponsorship, and registration materials for special events, including the JFAO March Conference in March, Leadership Camp in June, Charity Golf Tournament in July, Ambassadors’ Banquet in August, and Ontario Young Farmers’ Forum (OYFF) in November.
o Under the direction of the event committee, organize pre-registrations and co-ordinate day-of arrivals, including data entry and maintenance, processing payments, and issuing receipts.
o Provide program support to the organizing committees through researching history, special guests, and speakers
o Co-ordinate arrangements for special guests, speakers, and sponsors
o Assist with organization and event setup.
o Assist with post-event evaluation and filing
- Research new and maintain corporate partner relationships with JFAO
- Research new grant opportunities available to JFAO
- Research and solicit potential donors for silent auctions
- Research lost/missing alumni addresses and update address databases to prepare for alumni mailing.
- Act as a liaison between the JFAO office, alumni, members, and the organizing committees
- Ensure information is organized and easily accessible
- Other related duties as required, pending approval from JFAO Executive
HOURS OF WORK:
30 hours per week. Pre-approval of additional hours and the activities to be completed is required from the Operations Committee. Some weekend/evening hours will be required. Note any weekend hours worked will be granted an equivalent number of weekday hours off. Telecommute is available in certain circumstances, with final approval from the Past President. The Past President will be notified of planned working hours on a minimum bi-weekly basis. Work will be completed at the JFAO office (Guelph, Ontario) on the provided computer station. Tasks are to be completed in a timely manner, and all records and reports are to be made readily accessible to JFAO.
COMPENSATION:
The salary range for this position will between $800-1,200/week with 3 weeks of paid vacation and 6 paid sick days. Salary payments will be paid monthly. Mileage to and from current and potential corporate partners, as well as JFAO meetings, will be reimbursed at 30 cents/km. Travel time to and from the JFAO office will not be considered as time worked. An accounting of hours worked is required for payment to be issued.

Junior Farmers Association of Ontario (JFAO) is a charity that provides opportunities for young people from rural Ontario between the ages of 15 to 29 of all backgrounds.
