What you will do:
Livestock:
Daily care of livestock including monitoring and adjusting feeders, feed equipment, barn temperature and ventilation
Receiving, loading and moving pigs
Maintain accurate records
General barn maintenance including cleaning, sweeping, cobwebs, recycling removal, bathroom cleaning, laundry and any other required chores
On farm feed milling and delivery to barns
Adhere to strict bio-security protocols at all times
Cropping:
General tractor work including, Manure handling, spreading fertilizer, tillage, spreading clover seed, hauling wagons
Operating modern GPS equipment (Trimble)
Soil Sampling and operation of Stone Picker
Maintain tidy and clean shop and shed
Maintenance, repair, washing and detailing of all farm machinery
Maintain and adhere to all safety protocols (i.e. eye protection, gloves, PTO shields, steel toe boots, hearing protection etc)
Other general duties including yard maintenance, snow removal, rodent control, tree trimming
Other duties as required which may vary from day to day
What you will need:
Experience working in the swine industry with an emphasis on finishing
Experience driving modern farm machinery in a safe manner
Understanding of modern GPS and computer software is an asset
Exceptional record keeping skills are required
Self-motivated, enthusiastic team player
Interested in learning and ability to apply new knowledge
Ability to work independently as well as with others
This position requires extensive climbing, standing for extended periods of time and the physical ability to lift up to 25Kg
A valid class G license is required
Compensation:
A competitive salary based on education and experience will be negotiated. Hours will vary season to season. (i.e extended hours during cropping seasons)
Pre-determined weekends are necessary from time to time
