Creating solutions with and through others fuels my passion. Experiences in work and life developed my sense of purpose.
I fulfill much of that purpose through sales, but my passion is to coach and mentor people within their own careers. Even though I rose to the position of assistant manager - from my labor position during construction of a feed manufacturing facility - I realized I wanted more.
I returned to NAIT and obtained an Honours Diploma in Administrative Management. Returning to that same business I began a re-structure of the company that gave me 10% ownership and created a means for the existing owners to maintain control while transitioning into retirement. During that time I added professional staff and diversified the company to add production of construction materials.
Eventually I became sole owner, responsible for every facet of the business including trading futures and options. My experiences since the feed industry have covered operations management, sales and business development and the launch of a new product and division with Durabuilt.
My life-long learning and professional development includes 5 years as a member of The Executive Committee Canada (TEC 241). The mornings are comprised of learning sessions with afternoons used as a forum (like an unofficial board of directors) with fellow Presidents and CEOs. The seminars and tools provided are catalogued for easy reference and use. These simple and practical tools, shared with direct reports and clients, are still in use.
